We must become the change we want to see in the world

oh well. it was a boring merdeka eve. At exactly midnight, i switched on to TV1 and sang the NegaraKu, Jalur Gemilang, Tanggal 31 and KeranaMu Malaysia, out loud. hehe... so patriotic huh? and I cried thinking of those people who sacrificed so much to gain independence for us. And it's so sad, like every year, there'll be gang fight after the celebration. inikah merdeka yang hendak dikecapi? i guess, all in all, we are not really merdeka on some aspects yet... somehow... mungkin orang muda tidak tahu erti merdeka. macamlah saya nih tua sangat. hehe... kita tak merdeka dari snatch thiefs...kita tak merdeka dari jerebu... kita tak merdeka dari rasuah dan dadah.. maybe nowadays, the meaning of merdeka has changed.

i also watched Gandhi on tv2, for the first time. Tengok yang ini pun i cried, sebab in the end, he died not murdered by the british but by his own people. It was an emotional night. I know. Saya mudah menitiskan air mata. hehe... If he is still alive now, he must be really sad to know that the muslims and hindus still not seeing eye to eye. Sigh, so much for the non-violence to gain freedom. I just wish that the world adapt to the same principle. Instead of fighting violence with guns, bombs and hatred, fight em with non-violence. Tapi bila teringat balik, kalau kepentingan politik yang dicari seperti Bush, non-violence macam mana pun, kedamaian tak akan dicapai... sigh...

maybe our hatred comes from our father, our father's father, and our ancestors... if dari kecil lagi, we hear our parents saying, "this 'race' is bad.. they kill people. this 'race' kurang ajar. this 'race' this and that"... isn't that affect our mind set sampai ke besar? so IMHO, our hatreds come from our parents. There is no right mind that we can have that hatred when we're a baby. so people, say the right thing when u're in front of your children. Teach our futures the right mind set :D
