September 17 : Terry Fox Run
Terry, from a suburb of Vancouver, was diagnosed with bone cancer at the age of 18 and had to have his leg amputated above the knee. He wanted to help other cancer patients and decided to run across Canada from the Atlantic to the Pacific. Unfortunately, on Sept 1st, after 143 days and 5,373 kilometres (3,339 miles) Terry had to stop his run due to a reappearance of cancer in his lungs. The country mourned when Terry passed away on June 28, 1981, 22 years old.
Terry has not been forgotten and in the years since over 300 million dollars have been raised in Terry Fox "Marathon of Hope" runs within Canada and around the world.

It's this sunday, September 17, 9am at Lake Garden, right after the Mizuno run... jom kita lari ramai-ramai. I find out that you dont have to buy the tshirt to join the run. You can still buy the tshirt - RM25 at San Francisco Coffee... all proceeds will go to the cancer foundation. If you cannot contribute in cash, just join the run to show your support. You can even walk, rollerblade, anything that u can to move yourself to finish the 6.5K route :D just bear in mind that this is not a race... u just have to finish it. that's all... It's an honour to run Terry Fox. all in the name of charity... my first time (saya tahun nih baru start lari laaa... hehe) and this will be a definite annual event for me. JOM LARI... best nih...
Even if I don't finish, we need others to continue. It's got to keep going without me.
